Pleasant Prairie saw no less than $23,230 in Medicaid payments in 2024 for services billed using HCPCS codes tied specifically to COVID-19, based on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Medicaid Provider Spending database.

Medicaid, administered by individual states and funded by both federal and state governments, is a public health insurance system. It serves low-income families and individuals, children, seniors, and people with disabilities, making it a central component of the nation’s health care.

Since Medicaid relies on taxpayer funding, shifts in local billing reflect changes in how communities direct public dollars for health care services.
