Elementary students and their families are invited to attend a literacy-focused event called “Booked for Dinner: A Family Book ‘Tasting’ Event” on March 26. The event will feature activities designed to engage children and their families in reading.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore different book genres, receive information about signing up for a library card, learn about the benefits of reading together as a family, and discover practical ways to encourage reading at home. Organizers will also provide a light family meal during the event.
Brass Community School, which is hosting the event, operates in a building constructed on the former site of the American Brass Company, according to its official website. The school emphasizes multicultural diversity and equitable opportunities for all students and aims to motivate every child to reach their academic and social potential within a secure and inclusive environment. Brass Community School follows the motto of working together and expecting excellence.
The school offers preschool sessions with specialized instruction in literacy and math, along with elementary programs that use focused strategies in these areas. It functions as a community-oriented institution that highlights family support as an important factor in student learning outcomes. Partnerships with organizations are developed to promote mentoring, reading initiatives, and family involvement. More details can be found on the school’s official website.
“Step into our ‘restaurant’ where books are always on the menu!” organizers said. “Bring your family and get ready to ‘taste’ some good books!”
