The City of Kenosha announced on May 1 that it will hold a series of public workshops to gather input for its 2050 Comprehensive Plan, which aims to guide the city’s growth and development over the next 25 years.
The city said these workshops are open to residents, business owners, and community partners. The sessions are intended to be interactive and provide opportunities for participants to share ideas, set priorities, and discuss future opportunities for Kenosha. Some locations will feature hands-on activities and mapping exercises, while others will offer informal drop-in options.
Workshops are scheduled at various locations throughout the city between May and July. Venues include the Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy on May 7, Southwest Library on May 15, Northside Library on May 26, City Municipal Building on June 24 and June 26, Kenosha Innovation Center on July 15, and Kenosha HarborMarket on July 18. The city noted that additional dates may be added in the future.
According to the announcement, topics addressed by the comprehensive plan include housing investment, transportation options, parks and natural resources management, economic development strategies, downtown revitalization efforts, sustainability measures related to climate resilience, as well as historic preservation initiatives. “Community voices are essential to this process,” said the City Development team. “These workshops are a chance for residents to directly influence the policies and projects that will shape Kenosha for decades.”
A comprehensive plan serves as a roadmap outlining long-term goals meant to align growth with community values. The city periodically updates its plan based on changing needs and resident feedback.
All sessions are free with no registration required. More information is available through the City Development section at www.kenosha.org or by contacting [email protected] or calling (262)653-4030.
