The City of Kenosha announced on Mar. 12 that the Spring Election will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The announcement provides important information for voters about in-person absentee voting, absentee voting by mail, and acceptable forms of photo identification. The city aims to ensure all eligible residents are aware of their options and deadlines for participating in the upcoming election.
In-person absentee voting will take place in Room 104 at City Hall, located at 625 52nd Street. Extended hours are available on Wednesday, March 25 and Wednesday, April 1 until 7:00 p.m., while other weekdays offer standard business hours. On Good Friday (April 3), City Hall will remain open specifically for voting purposes until 5:00 p.m.
Voters who wish to vote absentee by mail must submit a request including their name, address, mailing address if different, signature, and a copy of their photo ID if required. Requests can be mailed or emailed to the City Clerk or submitted online at MyVote.WI.Gov. The deadline for most voters to request an absentee ballot by mail is Thursday, April 2 at 5:00 p.m.; military and indefinitely confined voters have until Friday, April 3 at the same time.
Absentee ballots may be returned in person to the City Clerk’s Office during regular or extended hours or sent by mail or delivery service so they arrive by Election Day at 8:00 p.m. The city emphasizes that ballots should not be dropped off at polling locations or utility payment boxes and notes that drop boxes will not be used this year.
Acceptable photo IDs include a Wisconsin driver license or ID card (including receipts), U.S. passport, U.S. uniformed service military ID, and unexpired U.S. veterans photo ID. More examples are available on BringIt.WI.Gov and MyVote.WI.Gov.
Special provisions exist for hospitalized voters within seven days before the election; these individuals may designate an agent to deliver their ballot to the clerk’s office by Election Day evening.
The city also addressed confusion caused by third-party organizations sending out voter registration or absentee ballot request forms. Residents are encouraged to look for the official election mail logo on correspondence from election officials and check MyVote.WI.Gov for updates regarding their ballot status.
