FOIA Request to Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office Regarding Arrest Records on October 22, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Kenosha Reporter have submitted a request for public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.

Our request is specifically for all arrest records from January 1, 2024, to the present day. We are seeking detailed information including the arrestee’s name, sex, race, age, date of birth (DOB), citizenship status, booking ID, date of arrest and booking photo. Additionally, we have requested data pertaining to the arresting officer(s) involved in each case as well as specific details about the crime committed such as its type and location and the date it occurred.

As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to keep you updated on this matter as more information becomes available.
