Kenosha County will hold its annual Veterans Breakfast and Resource Fair on Saturday, November 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kenosha County Job Center. The event is open to the public and will begin with doors opening at 8:30 a.m.

County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced that breakfast will be provided free of charge, sponsored by Piasecki Funeral Home. The program includes military honors, the playing of the national anthem, and a brief ceremony starting at 9 a.m. Gateway Technical College student barbers will offer free haircuts throughout the morning, and various vendors will provide information about services available to veterans.

“It’s an honor to celebrate with our veterans and their supporters at this event every year, and it’s a wonderful kickoff to the series of ceremonies and programs that follow on Veterans Day and in the days leading up to it,” Kerkman said.

Following this event, several other Veterans Day programs are scheduled across Kenosha County:

– On Thursday, November 6, Jeffery Elementary School will host a program where veterans can answer students’ questions.
– Christian Life School’s Veterans Day Program takes place Friday, November 7.
– A worship service followed by lunch is planned for Friday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
– On Saturday, November 8, there is a breakfast at Village Pub of Silver Lake.
– Pleasant Prairie hosts its ceremony Sunday afternoon at Prairie Springs Park.
– Monday evening features Gateway Technical College’s Honor Dinner with guest speaker Joshua Deron.
– Multiple events are set for Tuesday, November 11: Wilmot Union High School hosts breakfast and an assembly; Salem Consolidated Grade School holds its own program; American Legion Post 21 offers ceremonies including Flanders Field Ceremony; Civil War Museum presents an event led by Navy Club Ship 40; VFW Post 1865 runs daylong activities; Library Park hosts the Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony; Shoreland Lutheran High School closes out the day with a special guest speaker.

These events reflect participation from local schools as well as community organizations. During the current school year in Kenosha County, Indian Trail High School and Academy has the highest enrollment among area schools. Demographically, white students make up just over half of all students enrolled in county schools during this period. Hispanic students represent roughly one-quarter of enrollment while Black students are about one-tenth of total enrollment. American Indian students remain among the least represented groups within county schools (https://dpi.wi.gov/).

For more details about specific events or contacts for registration or information regarding each ceremony or program mentioned above, residents are encouraged to reach out directly to listed organizers or visit official websites.
