Kenosha County will hold its annual Veterans Breakfast and Resource Fair on Saturday, November 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kenosha County Job Center. The event is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 8:30 a.m.

County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced that the breakfast is sponsored by Piasecki Funeral Home and aims to honor those who have served in the U.S. military. Military honors, the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner, and a brief program are scheduled for 9 a.m., followed by breakfast at 9:15 a.m.

A resource fair featuring informational vendors and free haircuts provided by Gateway Technical College student barbers will be available throughout the morning.

“It’s an honor to celebrate with our veterans and their supporters at this event every year, and it’s a wonderful kickoff to the series of ceremonies and programs that follow on Veterans Day and in the days leading up to it,” Kerkman said.

The Veterans Resource Fair marks the beginning of several events across Kenosha County leading up to Veterans Day. These include school programs where veterans will interact with students, worship services, community breakfasts, ceremonies at memorials, guest speakers such as retired Army veteran Joshua Deron at Gateway Technical College’s Honor Dinner, observances hosted by local American Legion posts, Civil War Museum ceremonies led by Navy Club Ship 40, VFW Post celebrations including flag retirement ceremonies, and receptions following various programs.

Kenosha County schools reflect diverse student demographics. In the 2023-24 school year, Indian Trail High School and Academy had the highest enrollment among county schools with 2,001 students. Tremper High School followed with 1,458 students while Bradford High School enrolled 1,448 students (https://dpi.wi.gov/). Of all students attending Kenosha County schools during this period—totaling over 25,000—white students made up about 55.6%, Hispanic students represented roughly one-quarter of enrollment at 25.7%, while Black students accounted for just over ten percent (https://dpi.wi.gov/). American Indian students were among the least represented groups within county schools (https://dpi.wi.gov/).

The full schedule of Veterans Day events is compiled by the Kenosha County Division of Veterans Services.
