Kenosha County will hold its annual Veterans Breakfast and Resource Fair on Saturday, November 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kenosha County Job Center. The event is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 8:30 a.m., according to County Executive Samantha Kerkman.

Attendees can enjoy a complimentary breakfast sponsored by Piasecki Funeral Home. The program includes military honors, the playing of the national anthem, and a brief ceremony starting at 9 a.m. A resource fair featuring informational vendors and free haircuts provided by Gateway Technical College student barbers will be available throughout the morning.

“It’s an honor to celebrate with our veterans and their supporters at this event every year, and it’s a wonderful kickoff to the series of ceremonies and programs that follow on Veterans Day and in the days leading up to it,” Kerkman said.

The county has also released a schedule of additional Veterans Day events taking place across Kenosha County in early November. These include school programs, worship services, community breakfasts, ceremonies at memorials, dinners honoring veterans, and special observances hosted by local organizations such as American Legion Post 21 and VFW Post 1865.

Some events are held at local schools where veterans are invited into classrooms or honored during assemblies. For example, Jeffery Elementary School will host veterans for classroom discussions with students on November 6. Other notable gatherings include the Gateway Technical College Veterans Honor Dinner on November 10 featuring retired Army veteran Joshua Deron as guest speaker.

The events reflect participation from various segments of Kenosha County’s diverse population. During the 2023-24 school year, Kenosha County schools enrolled over 25,000 students. Of these students, approximately 55.6% were white (14,124), while Hispanic students accounted for about one-quarter (6,528) and Black students made up just over ten percent (2,642). American Indian students represented only about 0.2% of total enrollment (https://dpi.wi.gov/).

Indian Trail High School and Academy had the highest enrollment among county schools in that period with more than two thousand students (https://dpi.wi.gov/).
