Kenosha County will hold its annual Veterans Breakfast and Resource Fair on Saturday, November 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kenosha County Job Center, according to an announcement by County Executive Samantha Kerkman. The event is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 8:30 a.m.

Attendees can enjoy a complimentary breakfast sponsored by Piasecki Funeral Home as part of the celebration honoring those who have served in the U.S. military. The breakfast will be served at 9:15 a.m., following military honors, the playing of the national anthem, and a brief program starting at 9 a.m.

Throughout the morning, informational vendors will be present for veterans and their families. Gateway Technical College student barbers will offer free haircuts during the event.

“It’s an honor to celebrate with our veterans and their supporters at this event every year, and it’s a wonderful kickoff to the series of ceremonies and programs that follow on Veterans Day and in the days leading up to it,” Kerkman said.

The resource fair marks the beginning of several Veterans Day events scheduled across Kenosha County:

– On Thursday, November 6, Jeffery Elementary will host its Veterans Day Program where veterans are invited into classrooms.
– Friday, November 7 includes programs at Christian Life School and Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
– Saturday, November 8 features a breakfast at Village Pub of Silver Lake.
– Sunday, November 9 brings Pleasant Prairie’s ceremony at Prairie Springs Park.
– Monday, November 10 is Gateway Technical College’s Veterans Honor Dinner with guest speaker Joshua Deron.
– Tuesday, November 11 has multiple observances including Wilmot Union High School’s breakfast and assembly; Salem Consolidated Grade School’s program; American Legion Post 21’s celebration; Civil War Museum’s ceremony led by Navy Club Ship 40; VFW Post 1865 events; Kenosha Area Vietnam Veterans’ ceremony; and Shoreland Lutheran High School’s event featuring Navy Veteran Jeremy Krusemark.

For more information about these events or details on participation or RSVP requirements for specific programs, contact information has been provided by organizers.

Kenosha County schools serve a diverse student population. In the most recent school year (2023–24), Indian Trail High School and Academy had the highest enrollment among local schools with over two thousand students. Tremper High School followed with nearly fifteen hundred students enrolled while Bradford High School was close behind. More than half of all students in Kenosha County were white (55.6%), while Hispanic students made up about one quarter (25.7%)—the second largest group—and Black students accounted for just over ten percent (10.4%). American Indian students represented one of the smallest groups within county schools at just two-tenths of one percent during this period (https://dpi.wi.gov/).

These statistics reflect ongoing demographic trends within Kenosha County’s educational institutions as community organizations prepare for upcoming events honoring local veterans.
