A public information meeting is scheduled for July 16 to discuss Kenosha County’s plan to reduce serious crashes on its highways. The event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, located at 9900 Terwall Terrace.
Kenosha County received a federal grant to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. This plan aims to identify areas with safety concerns, prioritize these issues, and provide strategies to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on county roads.
A committee made up of representatives from the county and its municipalities has been working on the plan since early this year. Their initial findings will be shared during the upcoming meeting.
“The committee looks forward to sharing its findings with the public and gathering further input to inform the process,” said Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman.
Residents are encouraged to review draft exhibits and offer feedback about traffic safety concerns and problem areas on county trunk highways.
A second public information meeting is planned for September 26 at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol, after the plan reaches its final draft stage.
The county hired Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc., a planning and engineering firm, to conduct the study. Those unable to attend can contact Darren Fortney, Senior Principal at Short Elliott Hendrickson, by phone or email for questions or comments.
