A public information meeting is scheduled for July 16 to discuss Kenosha County’s efforts to reduce serious crashes on local highways. The event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, located at 9900 Terwall Terrace.
Kenosha County recently received a federal grant to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan aimed at eliminating deaths and serious injuries on county roadways. The plan will identify areas with safety concerns, prioritize them, and provide recommendations for improvements.
A committee consisting of representatives from the county and its municipalities has been working on the plan since early this year. Their initial findings will be shared during the upcoming meeting.
“The committee looks forward to sharing its findings with the public and gathering further input to inform the process,” said Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman.
Residents are encouraged to review draft exhibits and offer feedback about traffic safety issues or problem spots along county trunk highways.
A second public meeting is planned for September 26 at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol, where the final draft of the plan will be presented.
The planning and engineering firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. was contracted by Kenosha County to conduct the study. Those unable to attend can contact Darren Fortney, Senior Principal at Short Elliott Hendrickson, at 608-620-6191 or by email for questions or comments.
