Kenosha County is seeking applicants to fill the 5th District County Board seat following the resignation of Supervisor Brian Thomas, effective Monday, July 1. The announcement was made by County Clerk Regi Waligora.
The vacant seat represents the northwest side of the City of Kenosha. Residents interested in serving must be qualified electors and live within the district. A map of the district can be found online at bit.ly/KCDist5.
The appointed individual will serve until a successor is elected during the 2025 spring nonpartisan election. The role includes attending board meetings on the first and third Tuesdays each month at 7:30 p.m., as well as serving on several committees, which generally requires four to five evenings per month. The annual compensation for this position is $6,526.

Completed applications must be submitted to the County Board chairman via the county clerk by 5 p.m. on July 22. Submissions can be made in person, by mail, or through email.
Applicants will participate in interviews before an appointment is made at the August 6 County Board meeting.

During the current school year, Indian Trail High School and Academy had Kenosha County’s highest enrollment with over two thousand students, followed by Tremper High School and Bradford High School (https://dpi.wi.gov/). The student body in Kenosha County consists of diverse backgrounds: white students make up just over half of all students enrolled; Hispanic students represent about one-quarter; Black students account for just over ten percent; while American Indian students remain one of the smallest groups (https://dpi.wi.gov/).
