Kenosha County is seeking applicants to fill the vacant 5th District County Board seat after Supervisor Brian Thomas resigned effective Monday, July 1. The announcement was made by County Clerk Regi Waligora.
Residents of the 5th District, which is located on the northwest side of the City of Kenosha, are eligible to apply for the position. A map of the district can be found online at bit.ly/KCDist5. Applicants must be both residents and qualified electors of the district.
The appointed supervisor will serve until a successor is elected in the spring 2025 nonpartisan election. Board supervisors are required to attend meetings at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays each month and typically participate in several committees, requiring a commitment of four to five evenings per month. The annual salary for this position is $6,526.

Kenosha County schools had a total enrollment of 25,402 students during the 2023-24 school year, with Indian Trail High School and Academy being the largest school with 2,001 students. Tremper High School and Bradford High School followed with enrollments of 1,458 and 1,448 students respectively (https://dpi.wi.gov/). During that same period, white students comprised about 55.6% (14,124) of all students enrolled in Kenosha County schools (https://dpi.wi.gov/). Hispanic students represented approximately one-quarter of all students at 25.7% (6,528), while Black students accounted for just over one-tenth at 10.4% (2,642) (https://dpi.wi.gov/). American Indian students were among the least represented groups in local schools at just 0.2% of total enrollment (https://dpi.wi.gov/).
