The Kenosha Unified School District announced on Apr. 28 a family education event titled “Strong Minds, Happy Hearts: Destigmatizing Mental Health,” scheduled for May 20. The event will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Educational Support Center, located at 3600 52nd Street.

The district said the program aims to help families understand mental wellness in children and provide practical techniques to support emotional well-being. The session is open to all community members, regardless of affiliation with Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD). Free childcare and a family meal will be provided during the event.

Organizers outlined that attendees will learn about what mental wellness looks like in children, common signs and symptoms to watch for, and everyday strategies parents can use at home. Families are encouraged to ask questions and build confidence in supporting their children’s healthy minds.

Non-KUSD families or community members who wish to attend must join the Family Education Programs Community Group before registering for this or future events. Additional information is available by contacting KUSD’s Community Relations Department via email at engage@kusd.edu or by phone at 262-359-2256.
