The Kenosha Unified School District announced on May 5 that it is recognizing staff members who have reached 15 years of service. The district said it is grateful for the dedication shown by these employees each day.

This recognition highlights the commitment and long-term contributions of educators and support staff across multiple schools in the district. Honoring such milestones is important as it underscores the value placed on experience and stability within local schools.

Staff members being recognized include Cara Leiting, Stephen Nason, and Daniel Petts from Bradford High School; Nicole Jones from Bullen Middle School; Michael Herbert from Curtis Strange Elementary School; Rachel Allemand, Kyla Hylinski, Jonathan Randle, Denise Shircel, Lorien Thomas, Kenneth Thomas, and Thomas Werwie from ESC; Ursula Hamilton-Perry and Kimberly Weber from Harvey Elementary School; Staci Braya-Szela, Kathryn Briggs, Katelyn Martin, and Mechelle Shackelford from Indian Trail High School and Academy; Jennifer Kehl from LakeView K-8 Academy; Michael Kiczula from LakeView Technology Academy; Paula Stachow from Pleasant Prairie Elementary School; Jonathan Otto and Kathleen Otto from Reuther Central High School; Romi Eide from Roosevelt Elementary School; Ursula Angotti from Somers Elementary School; Kathleen Klein from Southport Elementary School; Beatriz Guerrero and Rita Rucinski from Washington Middle School.

Indian Trail High School and Academy had the largest number of students among Kenosha County schools in the 2023-24 school year with a total enrollment of 2,001 students. This reflected a 1.1% increase compared to the previous year enrollment numbers at Indian Trail High School and Academy according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

The district’s celebration not only honors individual achievement but also reflects ongoing growth in its educational community.

Hillcrest School organized a marine education day led by its own student volunteers for local second graders. The event featured interactive stations about whales and ocean life. Students engaged in crafts, games, simulations, and videos throughout the day.
