The Kenosha Unified School District announced on April 14 that it will hold a workshop titled “Pause the Scroll: Healthy Social Media Use for Families” on April 22. The event is designed for parents and caregivers to better understand how social media affects adolescents and how families can promote healthy technology habits.
The district said the goal of the interactive session is to help adults learn why children are attracted to social media, as well as strategies for meeting those needs in ways that do not involve screens. Attendees will receive practical ideas to strengthen connections with their children, encourage more offline activities, and create a balanced approach to technology at home.
Free childcare will be available during the event, and a meal will be served before the presentation. The workshop is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Educational Support Center located at 3600 52nd St.
Everyone is welcome to participate in these family education programs, according to the district’s announcement. Non-Kenosha Unified School District families and community members are required to join the Family Education Programs Community Group in order to register for this event. Once registered, participants will receive updates about future events without needing to rejoin.
For additional context about local schools, Indian Trail High School and Academy had the largest student enrollment among Kenosha County schools in the 2023-24 school year with a total of 2,001 students according to data from Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction. This figure represents a 1.1 percent increase from the previous year as reported by state records.
