KTEC Schools of Innovation announced on Apr. 15 that it will celebrate the grand opening of its new Kenosha campus this summer, inviting community members, local businesses, and organizations to participate in the event.

The development is significant as it marks a major investment in education and workforce development for the region. The new facility aims to provide hands-on, STEM-focused learning experiences for students from grades 4K through 12, according to the official website.

The school has purchased and is renovating a former Pick ’n Save building at 1901 63rd Street in Kenosha. The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for August 13 at 4:30 PM, followed by tours and a business networking event. KTEC’s current program will relocate from its existing leased space at 7400 39th Avenue into this expanded facility by fall of next year, as reported by the official website.

The new campus spans approximately 56,000 square feet and features advanced career and technical education labs for welding, manufacturing, construction, and transportation; technology-enhanced classrooms; a full-size gymnasium; outdoor recreation areas; and dedicated spaces for project-based learning. These facilities are designed to support rigorous academics alongside practical learning experiences focused on preparing students for high-demand careers—a core part of KTEC High School’s mission to educate future innovators via academics and hands-on opportunities noted on the official website.

Partnerships play an important role at KTEC High School. The school collaborates with Gateway Technical College as well as companies like Snap-on to offer student opportunities such as dual credits and workplace exposure according to information provided on the official website. Angela Andersson, CEO and Executive Director of KTEC Schools of Innovation said: “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for all of our students… This new campus is being made possible because of the incredible partnerships we’ve built with industry and education. Together, we’re ensuring that our students have access to the tools, training, and inspiration they need to become the innovators of the future.”

In addition to academic programming focused on innovation and technical skills development—such as character building initiatives emphasizing teamwork—the school encourages community involvement through sponsorships or partnership opportunities detailed further on its official site.

Broader implications include strengthening ties between education providers like KTEC High School—who work closely with partners including Carthage College—and regional industries committed to supporting student success in science, engineering, advanced manufacturing fields according to their official website.
