Moms for Liberty – Kenosha County has endorsed Jon Kim in his bid for a position on the Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) Board of Education. The election is scheduled for April 2.

“Jon Kim, a father and business owner, is deeply respected within our community,” said Amber Infusino. “His commitment to fostering a supportive and effective educational environment aligns with our values. Jon is the leader our school board needs.”

In a statement released on his campaign’s Facebook page, Kim provided an overview of his campaign platform and outlined what he aims to contribute to the KUSD School Board. “We stand on integrity and creating policies that follow solid legal and evidence-based rules and regulations. How about someone who knows that the word ‘no’ is not always a bad thing. We need a strong person that knows how to balance a budget. It is time for some creative solutions to our most difficult problems because more of the same is simply not working,” said Kim.

Kim had previously vied for a seat on the KUSD School Board in spring 2022. Although he was unsuccessful, two of his fellow “Common Sense Candidates,” Eric Meadows and Kristine Schmaling, were elected.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Kim holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from UW-Parkside. He also owns U.S. Taekwondo Academy in Kenosha, where he serves as a Grandmaster. Prior to this, he worked as a system administrator for Jockey International.

The KUSD School Board’s election notice reveals that four board positions are due to be filled as current members’ terms are expiring. The top three candidates receiving the most votes will each be assigned three-year terms expiring April 25, 2027, while the candidate with the fourth-highest number of votes will serve a two-year term ending on April 26, 2026.

Moms for Liberty is an advocacy group championing parental rights in education founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, both former school board members themselves. According to their website, Moms for Liberty states: “We are dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government.”
