The City of Kenosha announced on April 13 that Sheridan Road at the intersection of 56th Street will be closed starting June 11 for replacement of the embedded electric streetcar track. The closure is expected to last seven days and will require a full shutdown of the intersection to through traffic.

This closure is necessary for infrastructure improvements in the area, specifically to replace aging streetcar tracks that run through the busy intersection. The city said motorists should plan for extra travel time and follow posted detour signs during this period.

Detour routes have been established for both northbound and southbound traffic on Sheridan Road. Northbound drivers are advised to take westbound 63rd Street, then proceed north on 22nd Avenue, east on 52nd Street, and return to Sheridan Road. Southbound drivers should go west on 52nd Street, south on 22nd Avenue, east on 63rd Street, and then return to Sheridan Road.

City officials expressed appreciation for public patience while this infrastructure work is completed. “The city appreciates the public’s patience while this infrastructure work is completed,” they said in a statement.

No additional background information or broader context was provided in connection with this project.
