Uniquely Wisconsin has been awarded an Emmy for its video on Kenosha County's "Field of Dreams: All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) 80th Reunion." The award was presented at the 66th Annual Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards, held on November 2 in Chicago. This marks the second Emmy win for Uniquely Wisconsin, following a previous victory for their feature on Marathon County’s “Farm to Table Pizzas: The Little Red Barn.”
Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman expressed her gratitude, stating, “It was an honor to be nominated and to bring home the Emmy Award. Kudos to the Kenosha County team that envisioned the award-winning video, and to the Uniquely Wisconsin team whose talents made it all come to fruition.” She also acknowledged the contributions of the AAGPBL players, describing them as "true trailblazers."
The Uniquely Wisconsin brand is known for its storytelling approach that combines elements of culture, history, economic development, and tourism. It has reached over 15 million people through various media platforms.
Wisconsin Counties Association President & CEO Mark D. O’Connell praised the project: “This Kenosha County video tells the amazing story of what makes our state so special: our people, our history and our traditions.” He commended both Kenosha County and Discover Mediaworks for their roles in creating and sharing this story.
The winning video was recognized in the category of Outstanding Achievement for Nostalgia – Short and Long Form Content. It featured prominently across multiple platforms including a broadcast episode, streaming docuseries, social media stories, digital media stories, and Discover Wisconsin’s podcast “The Cabin.”
Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann reflected on Uniquely Wisconsin's mission: “From the very beginning, the Uniquely Wisconsin brand has been about telling the amazing stories of the people and culture of our state.” He expressed excitement over receiving another Emmy win.
Discover Mediaworks President & CEO Mark Rose commented on their recognition at this year’s awards: “At our foundation we are storytellers... Telling the story of Kenosha County and their Comets was an honor.”
Uniquely Wisconsin continues to share local community stories through various mediums such as video broadcasts and podcasts. The program highlights counties across different seasons with current participants including Ashland, Calumet, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Oconto.
