A public event highlighting behavioral health resources in Kenosha County is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12. The Kenosha County Substance Abuse Coalition Resource Fair will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Kenosha County Job Center, located at 8600 Sheridan Road.

This initiative comes as overdose deaths have shown a decline both nationally and locally. In Kenosha County, there has been an estimated 33 percent decrease in overdose deaths during the first nine months of 2024 compared to the previous year, according to event organizers.

“At the resource fair, you can meet the people behind the recent substance use and overdose prevention initiatives and successes in Kenosha County,” stated County Executive Samantha Kerkman. “This will be an opportunity to learn about what’s available from the county and a variety of partner agencies, all under one roof.”

Attendees will have access to training sessions and free supplies such as Narcan, fentanyl test strips, personal first aid kits, and medication lock boxes.

The event is organized by the Kenosha County Substance Abuse Coalition in collaboration with the Kenosha County Division of Behavioral Health Services along with several other agencies and organizations.

“Resources are available, and recovery is possible,” expressed Kari Foss, Director of Kenosha County Behavioral Health Services. “We encourage everyone in the community to join us and learn what resources are available, and how you can make a difference in saving lives.”
