U.S. News & World Report has acknowledged Brookside Care Center in Kenosha County as a Best Nursing Home for Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care for 2025. This recognition is part of the annual Best Nursing Home Rankings, now in their 14th year, aimed at helping prospective residents and families make informed decisions about nursing home care.

For the 2025 rankings, U.S. News evaluated over 15,000 nursing homes based on criteria such as care quality, safety, infection rates, staffing levels, and health inspections. Only 16 percent of these facilities achieved the "Best Nursing Home" status this year.

Brookside received a "Highly Performing" rating in both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care categories. It stands out as the only facility in Kenosha County to earn this distinction in either category.

Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman expressed her pride: “I’m honored that Brookside received the top honors in this thorough, national review of nursing home quality,” adding that “Brookside is truly a gem in our community.”

Brookside has been featured previously in U.S. News ratings and other national publications' lists of top nursing homes. In August 2023, it underwent a deficiency-free review by the state agency overseeing nursing homes. This assessment covered health and life safety compliance over a period starting April 2022.

Robert W. Pitts, chairman of the Brookside Board of Trustees, stated: “I’m immensely proud of Brookside and the caring staff that make it what it is.” He also thanked County Executive Kerkman and County Board Chairman Monica Yuhas for their support.

Brookside Administrator Lynda Bogdala highlighted features that distinguish the 154-bed facility from others: private rooms with some offering private bathrooms, higher staff-to-resident ratios, renovated homelike environments, and exceptional dining options.

Bogdala remarked: “As U.S. News & World Report recognizes, Brookside performs highly by many measures and it is truly an asset for the Kenosha County community.”
