The 2026 Black History Bee, along with its Art and Writing contests, recently concluded, recognizing students for their knowledge and creativity in celebrating influential leaders from various fields such as activism, science, the arts, and public service.
In the Black History Bee competition, Jiah A. from Lakeview took first place. Luke S. from Somers placed second, while Andrew G. from Pleasant Prairie finished third.
The Art Contest awarded first place to Treasure E. from Brass for “Black is Beautiful.” Marybel G. from Somers received second place for a Mt. Rushmore sketch, and Isabella M. from Southport earned third place with a Dream Speech diorama.
For the Writing Contest, Avneet K. of Nash was named the winner. Amir M. of Lakeview came in second, and Kalli H. of Pleasant Prairie secured third place.
Organizers expressed appreciation for all participating students as well as the teachers and staff who supported the event: “We’re proud of all the students who participated and the teachers and staff who helped make this celebration of learning possible!”
Indian Trail High School and Academy continues to be one of the largest educational institutions in Kenosha County. During the 2023-24 school year, it enrolled 2,001 students—an increase of 1.1% compared to the previous year (https://dpi.wi.gov/).
