The University of Wisconsin-Parkside announced on Mar. 24 that it has been chosen as one of 16 colleges and universities nationwide to participate in the From Campus to Career initiative, a national program supported by the Lumina Foundation. The initiative aims to scale up career-connected high-impact practices and improve workforce outcomes for students.

As part of this selection, UW-Parkside will receive $100,000 over two years. In addition to funding, the university will gain technical assistance and cohort-based support from national higher education partners in order to expand and strengthen its career-connected learning opportunities.

High-impact practices include internships, undergraduate research, service learning, capstone projects, and student employment. These activities are linked with increased student engagement, deeper learning experiences, and higher graduation rates. The From Campus to Career initiative is designed to intentionally connect these experiences with specific career pathways and labor market needs so that graduates are better prepared with skills sought by employers.

The participation in this national effort highlights UW-Parkside’s commitment to supporting students as they transition from college into their professional lives.

Looking ahead, the university expects that involvement in the initiative will further enhance its ability to prepare students for success after graduation through expanded access to meaningful work-based learning opportunities.
