Kenosha County Public Health, in collaboration with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management, has issued safety and preparedness guidelines in anticipation of an incoming winter storm.

The National Weather Service has announced a Winter Storm Warning for Kenosha County. The warning is valid from noon on Wednesday, February 12, until 3 a.m. on Thursday, February 13. The storm is forecasted to bring heavy snowfall that may disrupt travel during the afternoon and evening commute on Wednesday. Snowfall will start in the morning and could be heavier near Lake Michigan. Moderate to heavy snow is expected throughout the day, with rates potentially reaching one inch per hour.

Residents are advised to prepare by ensuring their homes have at least three days' supply of non-perishable food and water. It is also recommended to check that all portable light sources have fresh batteries. For those traveling by vehicle, it is suggested to have an emergency kit ready. This kit should include a flashlight, first aid supplies, booster cables, emergency flares, water and snacks, extra gloves, hats, scarves, blankets, a shovel, and traction materials such as sand or kitty litter.
