Kenosha Unified School District has announced that its 53rd Annual District Wide Student Art Show will take place at the Kenosha Public Museum, located at 5500 First Ave., from March 15 to April 13, 2025. The announcement was made via a press release on February 24, 2025.
According to the release, the art show will feature over 1,000 pieces of artwork created by students from various schools within the district, including elementary, middle, high, and charter schools. The exhibition is set to open for public viewing at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 30. Teacher meet-and-greet events are planned for March 18 for elementary schools and March 20 for secondary and charter schools.
The exhibition will remain open until April 13 and is free to the public. The Kenosha Public Museum's operating hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., as said in the release.
Kenosha Unified School District provides an array of Fine Arts programs starting at the elementary level. Music education begins early with opportunities for students to join band, choir, or orchestra through middle and high school. Theatre arts and visual arts education also commence at the elementary level, with options to continue in higher grades. In theatre, students can engage in both curricular and extracurricular productions while visual arts offerings include both two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) art.
The district was established in 1967 and serves several communities in southeastern Wisconsin: the City of Kenosha, Village of Pleasant Prairie, and Town and Village of Somers. It operates multiple educational institutions including elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, charter schools, choice schools, a specialty school, and a Head Start center. With a total enrollment of 19,069 students and an annual operational expenditure of approximately $304 million, it employs a diverse staff comprising teachers and hourly workers. The district reports a graduation rate of 87.4%.
