Leadership Kenosha's January session provided participants with insights into leadership within law enforcement, local government, and the justice system. The day commenced with a tour of the Kenosha Police Department, followed by a session on professional problem-solving led by Sergeant Cory Brennan. Participants were introduced to models for addressing organizational problems and theories aimed at enhancing understanding and empathy.
Mayor David Bogdala shared his vision for the Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood, discussed challenges like affordable housing, and reflected on his leadership journey. His contributions offered perspectives on both current issues and future aspirations for the city.
In the afternoon, two panels addressed justice and rehabilitation. The first panel included Sheriff David Zoerner, Judge Gerad Dougvillo, Deputy Chief Joe Labatore, Public Defender Kristyne Watson, Deputy District Attorney Drew Burgoyne, and District Attorney Xavier Solis. They discussed Kenosha’s legal system, equity challenges, and impacts on incarcerated individuals.
The second panel featured individuals from the Kenosha Correctional Center who shared their experiences related to incarceration and aspirations for reentry into society. Their stories highlighted the human aspect of the justice system.
These discussions encouraged leaders to consider systemic issues and explore actionable solutions.
