While the Kenosha Democratic Party quickly took to Facebook after video of a police shooting incident was released, the party has fallen silent on the devastating Black Lives Matter riots in downtown Kenosha last night.
In fact, the Dems have encouraged protestors to take the streets again tonight despite the damage the community has suffered.
The Kenosha Democratic Party refused an interview request by the Kenosha Reporter, instead only providing a statement on the shooting of unarmed black man Jacob Blake yesterday.
Kenosha Democratic Party Chairperson Lori Hawkins
Kenosha Democratic Party Chairperson Lori Hawkins' statement was muted, calling for a thorough investigation and stressing that not all details were known yet.
However, later in the evening and overnight several Kenosha business were destroyed by arson or otherwise vandalized and looted.
Immediately after a video showing a police officer shooting Jacob Blake was released the Kenosha County Dems put out several Facebook posts in support of protestors and Black Lives Matter.
The account posted an event by Our Wisconsin Revolution - Kenosha regarding a 6 p.m. protest tonight as well as a statement from Democratic Party presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Thus far, Kenosha Dems and Hawkins have not released a statement denouncing the damage the local community has suffered at the hands of rioters.
At least seven were arrested overnight on charges related to rioting. Video captured shows several more taking part in the looting and vandalism.
In a series of disturbing videos Lives Matter host Drew Hernandez documented the destruction and looting in downtown Kenosha on Twitter.
“I just want to challenge everyone out in America - whether you are left or right that doesn’t really matter,” Hernandez said in a video. “Do these look like acts committed by peaceful protests?"
The Kenosha Police Department did not respond to requests from the Kenosha Reporter regarding plans to prevent tonight's protest from spilling over into rioting.
