Kenosha County Health Officer Lori Plahmer announced that a recent suspected measles case in the county was determined not to be measles. She recommended continued vigilance in vaccination and other preventive health measures. The announcement was made in a press release.
According to Plahmer, Kenosha County Public Health became aware of a potential measles case when an individual in the community was initially believed to have contracted the disease. However, after a medical evaluation, it was determined that the individual did not have measles. As of now, no confirmed cases of measles have been reported in Kenosha County or in Wisconsin.
The department continues to monitor the situation and urges residents to ensure they are up to date on the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine. To check immunization records, residents can access the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR) website. Those who are unsure of their vaccine status or need assistance can complete an online form for WIR lookup. If there is suspicion of exposure or symptoms related to measles, individuals should seek medical attention immediately.
"At this time, there are no confirmed cases of measles in Kenosha County or the State of Wisconsin," said Plahmer. "We continue to closely monitor for measles in our community and urge the public to be up to date on their MMR vaccine."
