Carthage College issued the following announcement on Sept. 24
The Carthage women's tennis team traveled to Wisconsin-Whitewater this Friday afternoon to compete in the 2021 ITA Midwest Women's Tennis Regional Tournament. Four Firebirds competed in the tournament, which consisted of a single-elimination bracket of both singles and doubles draws.
Giana Apostoli is the last Firebird remaining in the singles bracket, having advanced through her two singles matches of the day. After an opening round bye this morning, Apostoli would win her second-round tiebreaking match against Gustavus 6-4, 5-7, 11-9. She now represents Carthage as one of the remaining 32 individuals in her singles draw.
Sam Ramsey won her opening singles draw match 6-2, 6-2 against St. Mary's this afternoon before falling to Grinnell in the round of 64.
Apostoli is scheduled to play at 9:00 A.M. tomorrow morning against Whitewater to determine who will advance to the next round of the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament.
