Suspect ID'd in officer-involved shooting in Bristol

24

Kenosha County Sheriff's Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 21

On Thursday, October 21st, 2021, at about 11:16 am KSD deputies were dispatched to the Benson Corners gas station (19942-75th Street) located at the corner of STH 50 at US 45 in an attempt to locate a stolen vehicle that was involved in a homicide out of Chicago.

Deputies located the vehicle and attempted to make contact with the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle.  A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and the suspect fled from the vehicle.  A KSD K9 was on the scene and was deployed.  While attempting to apprehend the suspect, our K9 was shot by the suspect.  KSD deputies shot the suspect and immediately rendered first aid and he was transported to an area hospital for his injuries.

The identity of the male white suspect is not being released at this time.

We have requested Racine County Sheriff’s Department to investigate the incident.  The shooting investigation is active and ongoing.  Please avoid the area.

12:18 p.m. FRIDAY, Oct. 22 UPDATE:

The suspect in the officer-involved shooting has been identified as Allen M. Brown, a 33-year-old resident of Countryside, IL.  The Racine Sheriff’s Department will continue as the lead agency in the investigation.  Charges for Mr. Brown will be forthcoming once the investigation is completed and submitted to the District Attorney’s office.  The suspect remains hospitalized and from what we have been told is in stable condition.

K9 Riggs sustained a gunshot wound to the forehead and was rushed to an emergency veterinarian facility in Northern Illinois.  His condition is stable and from what we have been told by the vet hospital he will recover.

Sheriff Beth would like to thank the community for all of the support that has been shown to the KSD and specifically K9 Riggs during this difficult time.  In the words of Sheriff Beth, “Riggs is a hero and potentially saved the lives of our deputies and the public”.
