Salem, Wis. native Jaeden Zackery is off to a good start in his second season with Boston College Eagles. The 215-pound, 6-foot-2 point guard sophomore is a 2019 graduate of Central High School in Paddock Lake. In his junior year in 2018 he led the Central to its first state appearance.
Zackery is having productive sophomore season with Boston College
In 2022-23, Zackery’s best offensive performance was on Jan. 3 versus Notre Dame University when he scored 18 points in which he notched a season high seven field goals. His most extensive action this season came against the University of New Hampshire on Dec. 6 when he played 43 minutes. He also had season highs for rebounds and free throw attempts with eight apiece. Zackery’s best game from beyond the three point line so far was against Wake Forest University where he sank three.
So far this season Zackery has played 697 minutes over 20 games, 19 of which he started. He has matched his 2021 season average of 10.4 points per game. In 2021 Zackery started in 33 out of 36 games played. His 57 steals tied a freshman record and ranked fourth in the ACC. Last season he scored a total of 344 points and also notched averages of 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He was second on the team with 89 assists.
Zackery spent a year at Chipola College in Marianna, Fla. prior to joining Boston College in 2021. He started 28 games at Chipola College as the team notched a 23-5 record and won the the Panhandle Conference and FCSAA State Tournaments. He was selected to the 2020-21 Third Team NJCAA All-American in that season. Zackery averaged 12.5 points. 3.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in 2020-21. His shooting percentage was 52% for field goals, 42% from three-pointers and 82% from the free throw line. Prior to Chipola College, Zackery played prep-school ball at Scotland (Pa.) Prep.
