Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman, along with Kenosha County Parks, is set to host the second annual tree-lighting ceremony at Petrifying Springs Park on Saturday, November 30. The event promises a day filled with activities starting at 11 a.m. when the Petrifying Springs Biergarten opens its doors, offering German Glühwein, beer, and hot cocoa alongside food trucks serving hot meals and beverages.

The official Tree Lighting Ceremony kicks off at 4:30 p.m., featuring free biodegradable ornament decorating and an appearance by live reindeer. At 5 p.m., Kerkman will lead attendees in a countdown to illuminate the park's Christmas tree.

Post-lighting festivities include a performance by local band Would You Kindly?, coinciding with Santa and Mrs. Claus making their entrance. Attendees can also enjoy trees decorated by various Kenosha County departments as part of a festive contest where the public can vote for their favorite via QR codes placed near each tree. The contest winner will be revealed at 5:30 p.m.

From 5 to 7 p.m., families have the opportunity to take complimentary photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, captured by a professional photographer on site.

"I was pleased to begin this new Kenosha County tradition last year, and now it’s back for 2024 — even bigger and better," said Kerkman. "I encourage people to join us for the ceremony, and to come back to enjoy the tree throughout the holiday season."

This community event is free of charge and open to all visitors, taking place around the Biergarten on the south end of Petrifying Springs Park near Highway JR entrance.
