Leadership Kenosha participants attended a government panel in December where local leaders shared insights into their roles. Susan Crane, Chair of the Town of Brighton, stated, "Sometimes you don’t seek out leadership, but leadership follows you." This message highlighted how leadership opportunities can arise unexpectedly.
The panel included County Board Vice Chair Daniel Gaschke, District 14 Alderperson Kenny Harper, and County Board Supervisor Felix Garcia. They discussed their experiences and the impact of local government on the community. Each emphasized the challenges and opportunities that come with serving in these roles.
Afterward, attendees had an opportunity to meet briefly with County Executive Samantha Kerkman and take a photo in her office.
Nonprofit experts Debra Karp and Jackie Hartley also spoke at the event. They explained how board service can lead to meaningful change within communities. With years of experience behind them, they shared practical advice for engaging with nonprofit boards to foster personal growth and community impact.
