Wheatland J1 School District students featured in Southern Lakes Anthology

Wheatland J1 School District has announced the participation of young authors and artists from Wheatland Center School in the Southern Lakes Anthology writing project. This initiative highlights the creativity and talent of its students. The announcement was made in a press release on March 11, 2025.

According to the news release, Wheatland Center School students excelled in the 2024-25 Southern Lakes Anthology writing project, themed "The Power of..." Out of twenty-four submissions from the school, nineteen were selected for publication, surpassing many of the thirty-seven participating districts. Submissions were evaluated based on clarity, originality, technical skill, and overall quality. Students from fourth to eighth grade contributed poetry, illustrated writing, and artwork.

Their achievements will be recognized at a reception in Whitewater this May. Sixth grader Stella Marr will have the special honor of reading her poem "Just One" to celebrate her outstanding contribution.

Among those recognized are fourth graders Levi Baer and Nicholas Syreini for their illustrated writing titled "The Theory That Changed It All." Zoey Block and Hadley Madsen impressed with their poetry. Fifth graders Tony Busch, Charlie Wisneski, and Jonah Dumelle also stood out. Sixth graders Sawyer VanDommelen, Gursevak Toor, and Stanley Withers were selected for their exceptional work alongside seventh and eighth graders Wren Hawkins, Landon Paramski, Gabriella Pippin, and Mattaline Konrad.

The district emphasizes financial stability and long-term fiscal health by tracking success indicators. According to its website, Wheatland focuses on creating engaging classroom environments where technology is integrated into instruction. Continuous improvement is communicated with staff, students, and the community while maintaining a safe environment for all. The district plans for future growth and provides opportunities for staff development while maintaining high academic standards through co-curricular activities and additional educational opportunities such as summer programs and high school credit courses.
