Kenosha, WI - The Shalom Center has announced the resignation of Tamarra Coleman from her role as Executive Director. Coleman is set to assume a new position as Chief Executive Officer at the Racine Family YMCA. The Board of Directors at Shalom Center accepted her resignation with regret but expressed satisfaction that she will continue to contribute locally.
Esther Roberts, who currently serves as Housing Case Manager at Shalom Center, has been appointed by the Executive Board as Interim Director. "Under Tamarra’s leadership, Shalom Center has grown and firmly established itself as an essential service to the Kenosha community," said Robert Riedl, a member of the Shalom Center Board. He added that the management team's strength allowed for a swift appointment of Roberts.
The board plans to initiate a strategic search for a permanent Executive Director. Details regarding job descriptions and qualifications will be available on the organization's website. Riedl assured that "with an involved Board of Directors, strong management team, dedicated employees and a volunteer base of over 400, the new Executive Director will be well supported."
Coleman joined Shalom Center's management team in 2015 after leaving the business sector and became Executive Director in February 2019. Her tenure saw significant expansions including the opening of Hope Hub Community Center in 2024. Steve Hartfield, Chair of the Shalom Center Board, stated: “The entire Board wishes to express our gratitude and appreciation to Tamarra, and we wish her all the best as she continues her service to the community.”
