Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) has announced the opening of registration for its Summer Supervised Playground program, aimed at providing a structured environment for children during the summer months. This announcement was made via a press release on March 10, 2025.

According to the press release, the program offers a range of activities such as sports, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises in a safe setting. It is scheduled to run weekdays from June 16 to July 24, excluding Fridays. The initiative encourages physical activity, creativity, and social interaction under supervision. Registration began on March 10, with further details available through KUSD's summer opportunities.

Participants must be between the ages of 6-12 and are required to bring their own lunch (excluding peanut products), be potty trained, and have signed behavior and emergency contact forms. The program will be held at Harvey, Pleasant Prairie, and Roosevelt Elementary Schools with a capacity limit of 60 children per location. Walk-ins are not permitted. The district states that fees are $20 for one child or $30 for up to four children in the same family.

The Kenosha Unified School District also provides various summer programs including in-person summer school for elementary through high school students and free youth activities for residents of Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, and Somers. These activities cater to children aged 6-18 and include supervised playgrounds, instructional sports programs, weight training, and fine arts opportunities. Registration opens each spring with participation available to all eligible residents regardless of school enrollment.

Established in 1967, KUSD serves southeastern Wisconsin's City of Kenosha, Village of Pleasant Prairie, and Town and Village of Somers. It operates multiple educational institutions including elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, charter schools, choice schools, a specialty school, and a Head Start center. The district has an enrollment of 19,069 students with an annual operational expenditure nearing $304 million.
