The city of Kenosha has announced a Community Clean-Up Day scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at four city parks. This initiative is part of the Keep Kenosha Beautiful program in celebration of Earth Day/Week. The announcement was made in a press release on April 7, 2025.

According to the press release, Kenosha has designated four locations for the community clean-up event: Lincoln Park (meeting point by the Oribiletti Center), Poerio Park Nature Center (meeting point by the park pavilion), Sunrise Park (meeting point by the playground), and Washington Park (meeting point in the large parking lot near the Velodrome). Volunteers will be provided with garbage bags, which will be collected by the city after the event. Participants are encouraged to bring their own work gloves and rakes for the clean-up.

The Keep Kenosha Beautiful program focuses on city-wide beautification and litter prevention through volunteer efforts. Volunteers play a crucial role in leading projects that enhance public areas and foster community pride. These initiatives include maintaining Adopt-A-Spot gardens, organizing clean-ups at parks, beaches, and neighborhoods, and promoting recycling and Earth Day/Week activities. The program aims to make Kenosha a more attractive and welcoming place for residents and visitors.

Community members are encouraged to volunteer and contribute their skills and enthusiasm to help improve the city's environment and public spaces, according to information available on the city's website.

Kenosha operates under a Common Council system consisting of the mayor and 17 alderpersons, each representing a district for a two-year term. The city traces its origins to an 1835 settlement established by John Bullen under the Western Emigration Company, initially named Southport before adopting its current name in 1850. The municipal government oversees various departments including public works, transit, fire and police services, parks, housing, along with maintaining ordinances and city planning efforts.
