Kenosha County Health Officer Lori Plahmer has addressed concerns about the appearance of measles in the community. Following a recent investigation, a suspected measles case was determined to be a false alarm. "Kenosha County Public Health is aware of a recent situation in which an individual in the community was believed to have measles. After being medically evaluated, it was determined not to be measles," Plahmer affirmed.
Currently, Kenosha County and the entire state of Wisconsin have no confirmed measles cases. Nonetheless, health officials are actively monitoring the situation and stressing the need for vaccinations. "We continue to closely monitor for measles in our community and urge the public to be up to date on their MMR vaccine," Plahmer stated.
Residents of Wisconsin are encouraged to verify their vaccination records, either through their healthcare provider or the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR) website. For those who need assistance accessing the WIR, Kenosha County Public Health offers support through an online form.
In case of potential exposure to measles or suspicion of an infection, seeking medical attention is advised. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides further information on measles, including symptoms, statistics, and prevention, in both English and Spanish.
