Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced that six locations in the county will host National Drug Take Back Day collection events on Saturday, April 26. The announcement was made in a press release on April 17, 2025.

According to the press release, National Drug Take Back Day collection events in Kenosha County will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at six locations: Johnson Bank in Kenosha, the new Pleasant Prairie Police Station, Somers Fire & Rescue, the Kenosha County Center in Bristol, the Twin Lakes Police Department, and UW-Parkside’s Tallent Hall. Residents can bring unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for free and safe disposal. Accepted items include pills, ointments, patches, creams, inhalers, vials, pet medications, and e-cigarette devices with batteries removed.

Kenosha County said that Narcan training and information on behavioral health services will be available at all sites except for Twin Lakes and UW-Parkside. Narcan is a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses; the training covers how to identify an overdose and administer the drug. Items not accepted at the events include illegal drugs, sharps, aerosol cans, biohazards, personal care products, household hazardous waste, and mercury thermometers. The event is hosted in partnership with several law enforcement and public health organizations in the county.

"I encourage people to make use of this easy, free way to dispose of medications," said Kerkman. "Along the way, you can also learn more about the community resources that are available for people struggling with substance use, and you can equip yourself to save a life with Narcan."

Kenosha County is overseen by elected officials including a county executive and a 23-member board of supervisors. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the county borders Racine County, Lake Michigan, Illinois, and Walworth County. Its mission is to enhance community well-being through efficient services that support residents and economic development. The county board represents districts of approximately 7,300 residents each and functions as the legislative body by holding meetings and maintaining committees to address governance matters.
