Wheatland J1 School District announced that seventh-grade students at Wheatland Center School organized a space-themed daddy-daughter dance to support local families. The announcement was made in a press release on April 24, 2025.

According to the press release, on March 7th, seventh-grade students Addison McCann, Austyn Madaus, and Wren Hawkins from Wheatland Center School organized and hosted the "Out of This World" Daddy-Daughter Dance. This space-themed event aimed at raising funds for local charities while offering a fun experience for the community. The event was part of their school service project, designed to provide students with hands-on experience in event planning and community engagement.

Approximately 400 people attended the dance, which featured activities such as dancing, photo booths, games, and concessions. These were all orchestrated by the students. The event was supervised by Wheatland staff members Mr. Hartley and Mrs. Linneman; however, the students took full responsibility for managing all aspects, including planning, budgeting, decorating, and even DJing the music for the evening.

Funds raised from ticket sales were donated to the Sharing Center, a local charity supporting homeless families in securing housing and providing essential items like clothing and groceries. The students were also involved in personally purchasing some of these items and delivering them to the Sharing Center. Through this project, they gained valuable experience in event planning, financial management, and community service while learning how their efforts can positively impact others in their community.

The Wheatland J1 School District aims to ensure financial stability and long-term fiscal health by tracking success indicators. According to its website, the district focuses on creating engaging classroom environments where technology is seamlessly integrated into instruction. Communication of continuous improvement is emphasized with staff, students, and the community. The district works to maintain a safe and secure environment for all while planning for future growth and providing opportunities for staff development. Wheatland also focuses on maintaining high academic standards, offering co-curricular activities, and providing additional educational opportunities such as summer programs and high school credit courses.
