Shalom Center has announced the appointment of Esther Roberts as its new Executive Director, effective May 2. Roberts, who previously served as Interim Executive Director for three months and Housing Case Manager for two years, takes over leadership of the local non-profit.
Expressing her gratitude for the appointment, Roberts said, “I am honored and deeply grateful to accept the promotion to serve as Executive Director of the Shalom Center. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Board of Directors, staff, and community members for your trust and confidence in my leadership.”
Roberts brings over 14 years of experience in housing services to her new role. Her previous work includes roles focused on housing programs, neighborhood enhancement, and housing regulation. She has also served as Co-Chair of the Homeless Awareness and Prevention Partnership and volunteered with organizations such as Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin Tiny House Project and Habitat for Humanity. Roberts holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate's Degree in Communication.
The Shalom Center's Executive Board conducted a strategic search process involving interviews with several candidates before selecting Roberts. Steve Hartfield, Chair of the Shalom Center Board, commented on her selection: “Esther’s experience, leadership, and passion for our mission set her apart from the others. We are confident in her abilities and thrilled she accepted the position.”
Roberts will lead an organization supported by an engaged Board of Directors, a strong management team, dedicated employees, and a volunteer base exceeding 400 individuals.
