Harborside Academy art students have contributed to the Shalom Center's Annual Celebration by creating nine original artworks reflecting the theme "Light The Way Forward." These pieces will be displayed at the event on May 2nd, with three selected for auction. All artworks can be viewed online at the Shalom Center's website.
Esther Roberts, Interim Executive Director of the Shalom Center, praised the students' work: “The students did an amazing job of capturing our theme. Each of the nine artists exhibited an amazing sense of talent, creativity and insight.”
The student artists from Harborside Academy range from 6th to 12th grade and worked under Art Instructor Mandy Mahaffey. The artworks will also be reproduced in postcard-sized formats for sale, with proceeds supporting Shalom Center’s programs. They will feature in both the Annual Impact Report and on the organization's website.
Mandy Mahaffey expressed pride in her students' efforts: “I am extremely proud of all our Harborside artists and their creativity and dedication to high quality work. Their ability to express themselves and embody the Shalom Center’s mission visually is a testament to the power of art."
The Annual Celebration will occur on May 2nd at Kenosha Country Club from 11:30 am to 2 pm. It is open to the public, with Kenosha Mayor David Bogdala as guest speaker. Tickets are priced at $75 each and must be purchased in advance through the Shalom Center's website.
