The City of Kenosha will host its annual National Night Out community festival on Tuesday, August 5, at Petzke Park from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is open to the public and offers free entertainment and a picnic dinner.
Over 25 schools and nonprofit organizations are set to participate, providing information and promotional materials. The Kenosha Public Library’s mobile unit will be present, giving attendees the chance to sign up for a free library card.
Attendees can enjoy complimentary hotdogs, chips, soda, and fresh water provided by the Kenosha Water Utility's Traveling Tap. Midwest DJ Productions will supply music suitable for families throughout the evening.
A demonstration by the Kenosha Police Department K-9 unit is scheduled as part of the festivities. Children attending can enter a drawing for a chance to win one of four bikes—two girls’ bikes and two boys’ bikes—which have been donated by Kenosha County Circuit Court judges Jason Rossell, Heather Iverson, Chad Kerkman, and Angelina Gabriele. Free tickets for this drawing will be available at the park pavilion food area.
Kenosha Police Chief Patrick Patton commented on the event: “National Night Out is a fun opportunity for community and police to come together to foster trust, understanding, and collaboration. It is a welcoming event that reminds us that we are all partners in creating a safer Kenosha.”
National Night Out is an annual initiative designed to promote partnerships between police and communities while encouraging neighborhood engagement. The event takes place in thousands of communities across the country each year.
Additional National Night Out events in Kenosha will also occur on August 5 at Curtis Strange Elementary School, First United Methodist Church, the Shalom Center, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and the Salvation Army.
