Schütz Container Systems has opened a new production facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The 370,000-square-foot plant represents an investment of $166 million and is expected to create 185 jobs over the next five years. The facility aims to strengthen the company’s operations in North America, particularly in the Midwest.
Frederik Wenzel, President and CEO of Schütz Container Systems, said, “The new facility marks a significant step in expanding our capabilities and strengthening our commitment to the North American, and especially the Midwest, market. With this state-of-the-art production site, we can provide our customers with our renowned quality products and services while continuing to focus on sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.”
The new Kenosha plant joins 13 other Schütz sites across the United States. The location was chosen for its logistical advantages and access to a skilled workforce. Schütz officials have indicated that there are already plans for possible future expansion at the site.
In fall 2025, Schütz plans to add a modern facility at the Kenosha site for reconditioning used industrial packaging as part of efforts toward a circular economy.
“With its commitment to quality and sustainability and its investment in Kenosha, Schütz is the kind of innovative manufacturer that belongs in Wisconsin,” said Missy Hughes, Secretary and CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). “WEDC is pleased to partner with them to ensure their success in our state.”
WEDC will provide up to $1 million in performance-based state tax credits for this project. The actual amount will depend on capital investment levels and job creation.
Kenosha Mayor David Bogdala welcomed the development: “The City of Kenosha is pleased to welcome Schütz to our community. Schütz is known as a leader in container solutions. The plant will strategically serve Midwest markets, while providing a sizable investment and quality job opportunities in Kenosha.”
