The City of Kenosha Parks Department has opened the application period for residents seeking replacement trees in parkways, which are the grass areas between sidewalks and curbs. The initiative is part of the city’s Reforestation Program, aimed at replacing trees that have been removed from these areas within the past five years.

Residents interested in obtaining a replacement tree must contact the Department of Parks at 262-653-4080 to be added to the Reforestation Program List. A staff member will visit each property to confirm eligibility and determine how many trees can be planted.

If a site qualifies, residents will receive an order form by mail with a list of available tree species for this year. Participants are required to select their preferred species and return the completed form to be included in the fall planting schedule. Trees are distributed on a first come, first served basis.

The cost per tree ranges from $50 to $150, which includes planting and tax. The planting period is scheduled from October through November. Those whose sites do not qualify will be notified with an explanation for their ineligibility.

Requests for the 2025 program will be accepted until September 3, with all order forms due by September 12. Requests submitted after these dates will be considered for the 2026 planting program.

For further information or questions about eligibility, residents are encouraged to call 262-653-4080.
