GOP challenger for State Assembly District 65 Crystal Miller posted video on Facebook of her tour this morning of the now boarded up downtown Kenosha.

Miller took viewers down 6th Street where every business was boarded up along the way.

The site was chaos last night and into the early morning Monday hours as over 100 rioters and protestors quickly gathered following the release of a video police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Miller said she had been at the site earlier in the day and seen the smoking hulls and shattered of some of the buildings. That was all covered with plywood.

“This is tragic, but amazing how this city came together,” Miller said. “I am proud of us, even during a really dark time.”

Miller, a 20-year Kenosha resident is the president of an assisted care facility, is challenging incumbent state Rep. Tod Ohnstad (D-Kenosha).

After the release of the shooting video last night Miller encouraged residents to seek “hope and peace.”

Ohnstad released a couplet of press releases addressing the shooting and the riots in its aftermath.

“We do not have all the answers as the investigation begins, but we have seen the video of the shooting, which appears to show the same scenario we have seen far too often,” Ohnstad said. “The public is right to be outraged. This should not happen in our city. We cannot let this happen anywhere.”

In his assessment of the video Ohsntad joins flew Democrat Gov. Tony Evers, who is accused of using charged language in describing the situation, and the Kenosha County Democrats who refused to acknowledge the riots at all.

Ohnstad did pay passing acknowledgement to constructive protest, rather than destructive riots.

“Destroying our own neighborhoods cannot be the solution,” Ohsntad said.

The four-term representative Ohnstad has never faced a GOP challenger and has only once faced any challenger at al and that came in his first Democratic primary.

State Assembly District 65 is comprised entirely of Kenosha County.
