Kenosha Unified School District, in collaboration with the Forest County Potawatomi, is set to host an event focused on Native heritage and traditions. The event aims to educate the community about the cultural contributions of Native peoples, particularly the Potawatomi, who have historically inhabited and influenced the area.
The "Journey Through Native Heritage" open house will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Attendees can expect performances by youth drummers and singers, as well as traditional games. Artifacts and regalia will be displayed, along with informational tables providing insights into the Kenosha area's history. Samples of traditional Native American food will also be available.
Additionally, a "Journey Through Native Skies" planetarium presentation will be offered. Those interested in attending this segment must pre-register for one of two sessions scheduled at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The event provides a platform for sharing stories and knowledge passed down through generations while honoring the enduring legacy of the Potawatomi people.
