The State of Wisconsin and the City of Kenosha have announced the sale of approximately 240 acres of land to Microsoft. The land is located northwest of Interstate 94 and Highway 142, enhancing the region's capacity for innovation and growth in the digital economy.
Governor Evers expressed enthusiasm about Microsoft's continued investment in southeastern Wisconsin, stating, "In Wisconsin, we’re continuing our work to harness AI, advance critical sectors like manufacturing, biohealth, and technology... We’re excited about Microsoft’s decision to continue investing in the southeastern part of our state."
The City of Kenosha has taken steps to facilitate this development by passing ordinances last December to attach and rezone the property. Mayor David Bogdala commented on this development as a transformative moment for Kenosha: "This groundbreaking investment solidifies Kenosha’s position as a hub for innovation and economic growth."
Samantha Kerkman, Kenosha County Executive, highlighted the economic impact of Microsoft's investment: "This significant investment by Microsoft will have a major economic impact on our area." Nicole Ryf from the Kenosha Area Business Alliance noted that Microsoft's presence signals international attention towards the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor.
Microsoft's purchase in Kenosha adds to its previous investment in Mount Pleasant, announced in May 2024.
