Kenosha County announces Highway C closure for May 9

Kenosha County has announced the planned closure of Highway C on Friday, May 9, from 5 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m. This closure is intended for a culvert installation related to a multi-use trail project. Access to nearby residences and businesses will be maintained, but through traffic is advised to use alternate routes. The schedule may change based on weather conditions, according to a press release.

According to Kenosha County, the Division of Highways is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient highway system throughout the county. Its mission includes adapting to changing conditions by using procedural and technical methods to deliver reliable public service in the most cost-effective way. The division supports Kenosha County residents with public works matters and works in close coordination with other municipalities to help ensure a well-functioning and beneficial transportation network.

The Kenosha County Public Works Department manages services that support infrastructure, recreation, facilities, and community development. Extension Kenosha County provides educational outreach in partnership with the University of Wisconsin. The Facilities Division maintains clean, safe, and efficient public buildings and grounds. The Golf Division oversees two championship courses. The Highways Division handles road maintenance, improvements, and policy planning. The Parks Division manages over 1,500 acres of parkland and 14 miles of trails. Planning & Development promotes sustainable land use, environmental stewardship, and local economic growth. Together, these divisions enhance quality of life and support the county’s essential operations and services.

Kenosha County is overseen by elected officials, including a county executive and a 23-member board of supervisors. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the county borders Racine County, Lake Michigan, Illinois, and Walworth County. Its mission is to enhance community well-being through efficient services that support residents and economic development. The county board represents districts of approximately 7,300 residents each and functions as the legislative body by holding meetings and maintaining committees to address governance matters.
